Cure One researcher Dr. René van Tienhoven has been elected a ‘Rising Star’ by the international Immunology of Diabetes Society during its congress in Brisbane, Australia, on 21 April 2026. He received this recognition in part for his discovery of how to not get type 1 diabetes, published last year in Cell.
The ‘Rising Star’ Award aims to foster career development and recognise outstanding early-career translational scientist or clinician-researchers in the field of type 1 diabetes research.
