Françoise Carlotti

Françoise Carlotti is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and head of the Islet Research Lab. After obtaining her PhD in 2004 from the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (France), she joined the LUMC, where she started in the Virus and Stem Cell Biology Lab of Prof. Rob Hoeben. In 2010, she became part of the Islet Lab led by Prof. Eelco de Koning, focusing on fundamental and preclinical research into type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Her work centers on primary human pancreatic cells and beta cell replacement therapies, within the framework of an active clinical islet transplantation program. She is a principal investigator in the Dutch regenerative medicine consortium RegMedXB and in the European H2020 consortia ISLET and ESPACE. In addition, she serves as an Associate Investigator at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW.
